Kal
Kal
Kal is an Umbrir in his fourth century of life, older than Karthas by half a century. He is one of two Umbrir assigned by the elders to remain on Earth and help the demigods of Camp Ironsoul during the conflict with the northern demigods.
Appearance
Kal's scales are pale across his front and face, transitioning to dark along his back. His hair is black. He prefers the robes of Oryndal from Terradine over Earth clothing, setting him apart from Karthas's tendency to blend in with local dress. He speaks with a low, slightly gravelly voice.
Personality
Kal is measured and traditional, more formal than Karthas. Though both spent the majority of their lives on Xav, Kal considers himself a man of Terradine at heart. He is calm under pressure and pragmatic — when Vekka betrayed his oaths, Kal's first instinct was to work within Umbrir structure, seeking to persuade the elders rather than act unilaterally.
Role in the Story
After Vekka aligned himself with Victor Cran and began moving the northern demigods south, Kal coordinated with Karthas and the elder Umbrir to respond. He and Karthas were assigned by Gre'l and Aeola to go to Earth and stay with the Ironsoul demigods through the conflict. He appeared at Camp Ironsoul to confirm what Karthas had already relayed, and warned of worsening tensions between factions on Xav and Aethere before departing for Terradine.
